The 20-point victory gives Carrara a strong sense of self belief in the second half of the season after a near flawless performance and back to back wins.

Darren Olsen had to fend off Richard Hamilton in a tough game at times, especially in the third. After conceding the opening game, Zach Featherstone sprinted to a big win over Scott Kemper in four.

Ian Brosnan battled bravely against Shaun Steminger; Ryan Langham was outstanding in his five-set win over Maurice Tait to give Carrara some belief; Geoff Green was no match for the brilliance of Toni Maxfield; while poor Eric Lai was run off his feet by National Junior Champion Flynn Barlett in three.

D GRADE - Carrara (6) v Southport (4)
CARRARA (6) lost to SOUTHPORT (4) 8-16
It wasn't the result that Carrara was hoping for to start the year but there was plenty of upsides in the result.

Andrew Baxter took Dan Busch to four after taking the opening game and going down 18-16 in the second.

Darcey Baptiste went down to Doug Brazier in an entertaining five-setter headlined by one game that went to 16-14 and another at 17-15.

Jo Morecroft found the going tough against Rosie Waters despite the opening game going to 17-15.

Hayan Kim proved that she is one of the most in-form players at the Carrara club with an ultra impressive three-set win over Brian Johnston. She won the opening two games and took the best that Brian dished at her to win the third, 19-17. Hayan is new to Pennant and after a slow, but steady start, once securing her first win she has consistently put her best foot forward and won most of her matches.
