CARRARA (1) lost to LABRADOR (2) 6-18
Carrara came up against a determined Labrador outfit eager to stamp their mark on the competition.

Young gun Joel Luca was always going to be in for a tough fight against reigning Australian National Men's Champion Nick Calvert, but full credit to Joel, he played a steady game and didn't let his guard down in the straight-sets loss.

Melissa Martin had a tough start in her clash with Darcy Evans, dropping the first two games before responding with class and confidence to take out the remaining three games and continue her impressive start to the season.

Wayne Evans tried hard against his Labrador opponent, before going down in four in a fierce battle.

Andre Luca had a titanic battle with Tyson Fraser. After dropping the first game, Andre bounced back to take the second game. In a match that ebbed and flowed, Fraser gained the upper hand in the fifth game to seal victory for Labrador.

A GRADE - Carara (3)
LABRADOR (4) lost to CARRARA (3) 10-14
This contest had everything a gripping match could ask for. A convincing win, a five-setter, and great rallies.

Carrara prevailed by just one point to take the honours, 200 points to 199.

Darren Olsen had a tough contest against Chris Joyce. After dropping the first game 15-9, Olsen responded in game two but couldn't quite get the two winning shots needed to pull away. The same happened in the third as Joyce sealed a straight-sets victory in a tight outing that could have gone either way in games two and three.

Peter Thompson succumbed to his second loss in as many weeks, this time in a tight five-setter. This was his third five-setter in four outings this season, losing two and winning one. Tilby sprinted away to a two-game lead before Thompson pegged him back to claim the next two and send it to a decider. In a fifth that had a number of dramatic twists, Tilby just prevailed.

Zach Featherstone played out of his socks to take down Brian Bond in four. Featherstone's only blemish on the night was the opening game before stamping his authority with a strong effort in game two and take the momentum to securing the contest. Featherstone has been dynamic in his three matches this season with three strong wins that have come at crucial times to keep Carrara in the contest.

Anthony Freeman sealed the fate of Carrara with an impressive four-game win. This was Freeman's third four-set win from four starts to the season.

B GRADE - Carrara (5)
LABRADOR (8) defeated CARRARA (5) 22-2
Labrador continued its strong season with a commanding win over an under-strengthed Carrara line-up.

Troy Morecroft put on a solid performance against his opponent Chris Mondientz. Morecroft took the second game 15-10 before his Labrador opponent broke through for an impressive third game. Troy fought deep into the fourth game but couldn't quite force the contest into a fifth, going down 16-14.

Despite going down in straight sets, Ian Brosnan put on an impressive showing against Jackson Earngey of Labrador. Jackson was undefeated from his previous three matches and was always going to take some beating. Brosnan, in his second game of the season was competitive in all three games.

Geoff Green didn't back down in his three-game loss to Labrador's Rob MacLachlan. Geoff was edged out in a highly entertaining contest in the opening game before getting beaten across the remaining two games to go down in straight-sets.

Eric Lai performed well in his loss to Labrador's John Bockett. Lai, in just his second game of the season (a win over Carl Beyers in Round One), narrowly went down in the opening game, and then took an incredible effort to win the third game 21-19 before going down in four.

Southport's Doug Brazier was too strong against Carrara's Vishal Thakur to win in three.

While Jo Morecroft went down in four to Cobus Swanepoel, she celebrated in winning her first game for the season. After dropping three matches 3-0, Jo took out her 10th game of the season, winning 15-13 in game one. Swanepoel recovered to take out games two and three in tight circumstances before finishing too strongly to win in the fourth.

Carrara's Hayam Kim played her best game of her career with a courageous effort against Southport's Brian Johnston, going down in five. Hayam took out the opening two games with the second going to a marathon 20-18 effort. Johnston responded to take out games three and four before taking out the fifth in a close finish, 17-15.
