Club update - November 2024

Posted on 22nd Nov 2024, 12:00am

It's hard to believe that we're coming to the end of 2024. Fear not, though, there's still plenty going on at ASRC, whether you're getting stuck into the festivities or keeping fit on court.

We know these updates are lengthy, so here are the essential takeaways:

  • ASRC will be closed for essential maintenance on Wednesday 4 December
  • We're looking for a new committee member with supervisory and/or HR experience.
  • Christmas Doubles will return on Saturday 21 December. More info to follow.
  • Christmas opening hours are:
    • Christmas Eve - club will close early evening (time TBC)
    • Christmas Day - closed
    • Boxing Day - closed
    • New Year's Eve - club will close early evening (time TBC)
    • New Year's Day - closed
    • Thursday 2 January - closed

Facilities & Committee
As a committee, we are focused on upgrading the ASRC facilities in a responsible way, taking measured decisions when it comes expenditure.

  • Essential maintenance: Following our review of the electrics at the club, we are carrying out essential works soon. As a result, the entire club will be closed on Wednesday 4 December. We apologise for the inconvenience, however, we must ensure the works can be carried out safely.
  • Courts: We can confirm that Courts 1 & 2 will be closed for the week commencing 16 December. This is for a full refurbishment to the same level as Courts 6 & 7.
  • Committee vacancy: We have a vacancy on the Committee. We'd love to fill it with an individual who is passionate about the club and has supervisory and/or HR experience. If you'd like to join us, please email [email protected]

Squash & Racketball

    • Monday - Juniors 6-7pm
    • Tuesday - Beginners 7-8.30pm

  • Grampian Leagues
It's heating up across all divisions! Remember to come down and support your ASRC teams through the week.
    • Division 1: ASRC Px have been knocked off the top by the formidable AU Students. SKN Osborne have clambered to 5th place, with Shell sitting in third.
    • Division 2: ASRC Px's second team are STILL at the top, 14 points clear of Garioch's second team. Hot Custard take up the ranks in fifth place with SKN Osborne 2 and Shell 2 battling it out at the bottom.
    • Division 3: SKN Osborne 3s are just two points off taking Keyhead off the top! Hot on their heels are the Shell 3s. SKN Osborne 4 are in fifth, with ASRC Reds sitting in eighth spot.
    • Vets: Our three Vets league teams are Hot Custard, Stoneywood and Jesters. Taking up third, fourth and sixth place respectively, it's anyone's for the taking at this stage in the season!

  • Walk-on sessions
Walk-on squash Fridays and racketball Sundays continue to be popular. No sign-up required - just come on down for a hit - suitable for all levels.
